I Love DC - Destiny Kids
Destiny Kids Vision
Every Sunday, our goal in Destiny Kids is to make sure that every child leaves knowing that they are made by God, loved by God, and that He has a divine purpose for their life. Our desire is to help you disciple your child into everything that God created them to be.
We believe that learning about Jesus is fun, exciting and life changing! We want to not only see your children accept Jesus as their personal Savior, but for them to fall in love with Jesus more each week. When your child walks into Destiny kids they will be greeted with high-fives, fun music and lots of games and activities. Each month we focus on a different theme. Whether they are learning about a Bible character, a certain story in the Bible or a character principle found in Scripture, every morning is directed at how much Jesus loves them, died for them and how He has a purpose for them.
Destiny Kids is broken up into 4 different age groups:
It is our hope that you can relax and fully engage in the worship service while your baby is with us. We have a warm and cozy environment that they are sure to enjoy. Destiny Kids has dream teamers who cannot wait to hold and spend time with your baby! Nursery dream teamers sing songs and play games that are centered around God’s love and his wonderful creation. You will quickly find out that our dream teamers love to pray over, hold, interact and engage your child during their time with us.
This age of children is fun, interactive and so curious…and we love it! In the Toddler Room your child will play fun games, have books read to them, and sing songs that remind them of how awesome God is and how much He loves them. Our Dream Teamers tailor everything to your child’s needs so whether your child is just walking, learning minor motor skills or potty training, they will be fully taken care of with us.
Preschool (Potty Trained-Pre K)
We believe that learning about Jesus is fun, interactive and hands-on. In the Preschool Room your child will learn a new Bible story every month with awesome crafts, games, figure illustrations, video clips and music. We hope that their time with us has a positive impact each minute they spend with us, so we have adopted curriculum from Life Church which coincides with the Kids Bible App. They will always leave with a fun craft that they made and a piece of yummy candy from the treasure box!
Destiny Kids Elementary is designed to fully engage all elementary age students in fun, active and creative ways. No matter what grade or gender your child is, they are sure to enjoy their time with us! The Elementary class is separated into two groups, Kindergarten – 2nd grade and 3rd grade – 5th grade.
Each week we have a fun large group game, worship with songs, skits or puppet shows, Bible memory games and small groups used with Orange Curriculum. In the small groups, lead by our awesome Destiny Kids dream teamers, your child will learn how they can apply the Bible lesson to their own lives. They will also be prayed for by name and fellowship with the other children in Destiny Kids, with a super cool hands-on activity.
The kids will always leave with candy and a devotional to share with you. Destiny Kids only gets approximately 56 hours a year to disciple your child during the worship service. That is why we want to partner with you by giving you tools and resources. For this month’s take home devotionals, just check out the Destiny Kids Resources page.
We love, cherish and enjoy the time we get to spend with special needs children. We believe that they have value, importance and potential to grow in miraculous ways. Upon checking in, they can be given a “buddy” for the whole time they are with us. That buddy will help them with activities, games, and crafts. They will also pray over them and encourage them. When you check-in your child for the first time, we will have a questionnaire for you to fill out for your child. It will help us understand how we can best make his or her time in Destiny Kids, the best time of the week!
What if it’s our first time at Destiny?
Your family will be directed to the Destiny Kids Check-In area where our Check-In team will enter your child(ren) into our our check-in system. Then they will give you a Security Tag which has a paging number (if we need to contact you during service this number will appear on the screens in the auditorium notifying you to make your way to the check-in table where one of our Destiny Kids Coordinators will greet you). At the end of service, you will also present your Security Tag to pick up your child. For safety and security purposes, no child will be released without the correct Security Tag.
Can I come to class with my child?
Yes! In order to be in the Destiny Kids area you will need to sign in by filling out a visitor form and also wear a bright visitor badge. This keeps everyone safe and secure.
