Greg Wigfield is the former Lead Pastor of Destiny Church. He and his wife, Pam along with a dozen other people planted Destiny in 1999. From the very beginning, Greg has had a vision of a community church that would reach people who had written off church, or people who knew very little about Jesus Christ and His church. His commitment to the Great Commission has fueled his desire to reach lost people with the gospel of Christ and to teach them how to live life in such a way that they could experience God’s blessings.
Greg received his undergraduate education from Southeastern University and Shenandoah Conservatory. He earned an M.A. in Organizational Leadership and Divinity from Regent University. He has served in several ministries as a youth pastor and assistant pastor. He and Pam have been involved in planting four churches. Greg also served as Chaplain to the Washington Redskins from 1982 until 1988 under the leadership of Coach Joe Gibbs.
However, throughout his years of ministry, Greg paid the bills by starting a business in 1984 that continues to sustain his family along with more than thirty other employees. “I had a dream to start a business that would provide income so that I could serve God’s Kingdom without any cost to the church. God has truly answered that request.”
Greg’s ministry passion is to be able to help start new churches in order to reach more people for Jesus Christ. His father and grandfather gave over a century of ministry to starting churches and making disciples throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Greg continues to build on that legacy.
Greg’s greatest blessing in life is his family. He and Pam have been married for more than twenty-five years. At present they have four children, Jennifer and her husband Josué, Rachel and her husband Bjorn, Ryan and his wife Grace, Robert and his wife Daniella, and six grandchildren.
Buddy and his family have been a part of Destiny Church since 2001 and he has been one of Destiny’s bi-vocational pastors since 2011. While not professional counselors, Buddy and his wife Susan enjoy sharing their 30-plus years of marital and parenting experience with couples contemplating marriage or dealing with family issues. Buddy also assists with other pastoral ministries including baptisms and weddings.
Buddy and Susan have two grown sons, John and Joshua. John and his wife Blake are part of the Destiny family. Joshua resides in Denver, Colorado. All three are graduates of Liberty University.
Buddy grew up on a farm in Virginia and is an avid DIYer. He is also a professional engineer and die-hard Virginia Tech fan.
